There are roughly 703 recorded bird species in Nicaragua. A healthy mixture of indigenous and migratory birds can be readily found throughout the country. Birders typically travel to the Indio Maíz Biological Reserve and the Bosawás Biosphere Reserve for some of the best birding in Nicaragua.
The country’s variety of climates offers travelers ample opportunities to see different species of birds including the National bird of Nicaragua, the Turquois-browed Motmot.
Let us know what birds you are interested in seeing, and we will plan an itinerary with that in mind. If you have a group of birders, we can organize a special tour for your group with an experienced birding guide.
