Arenal and Other Volcano Regions

This region in North Central Costa Rica features volcanoes, cloud forests, cattle ranches, hot springs, bubbling mud and transitional dry forests. There are several good roads into this area and many things to do. The primary attraction is the Arenal Volcano National Park, which is a "must see" for any visitor to Costa Rica. Also in this area is the magical Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. For those not able to go to Tortuguero National Park, there is a jungle boat experience in the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge.

Transfers to this region from the San Jose International Airport and Liberia Airport are typically 3 hours in duration. Visitors to the region have access to excellent canyoning tours, horseback riding, canopy tours and many other activities.
