Bird Watching in Panama

There are over 940 recorded bird species in Panama, making this country an excellent destination for birders. One of the best areas for birding is the Chiriqui Highlands/Boquete area. A trip to one of the country’s many National Parks also provides great opportunities to view a variety of bird species.

Migratory birds often pass through Panama, and some nest there to breed. This provides many exciting opportunities to catch a rare glimpse of birds that are not typically indigenous to the region. However, the indigenous birds of Panama are some of the most exciting species to behold like Scarlet Macaws, Quetzals and the National Bird of Panama, the Harpy Eagle.

Let us know what birds you are interested in seeing, and we will plan an itinerary with that in mind. If you have a group of birders, we can organize a special tour for your group with an experienced birding guide.
